Week 1, January 8, 2013 (due Week 2)
1. Download and answer this introductory questionnaire.
2. Watch the PBS documentary Faces of America and answer the questions listed in the 2nd part of the file you just downloaded from the link above. The documentary can be found in Temp Storage in the PHOTOESSAY1140 folder. You will need VLC player to view the video. It is installed on all school computers in the Applications folder (see image below)

3. Begin thinking about what subject you would like to document for the next 6 weeks. Although we will be brainstorming in class next week, start ruminating on possibilities!!

1. Based on your brainstorming and our chat in class, please conduct any research/testing related to your topic(s). Afterwards please download and answer this questionnaire.
Week 3, January 22, 2013 (due Week 4)
1. Shoot your first set of 100 images!! Bring RAW files to class on a drive (we will batch convert them in class).
Week 4, January 29, 2013 (due Week 5)
1. Shoot your second set of 100 images!!
2.Batch convert to jpegs, 8-10 compression, 72dpi, 1200pix on the long side.
3.Identify your top 10 images.
Week 5, February 5, 2013 (due Week 6)
1. Shoot your third set of 100 images!!
2. Batch convert to jpegs (watch video tutorial here), 8-10 compression, 72dpi, 1200pix on the long side.
3. Identify your top 10 images. Place Top 10 in folder/compress and zip folder and email only this to me at hatanaka@aii.edu. Bring in the rest of your 100 images to class on Week 7.
Week 6, February 12, 2013 (due Week 7)
1. Bring in your THIRD set of images (top 10/100 images) from last week.
2. Shoot and bring in your fourth set of 100 images!!
3.Batch convert to jpegs (watch video tutorial here), 8-10 compression, 72dpi, 1200pix on the long side.
4.Identify your top 10 images.
Week 8, February 26, 2013 (due Week 9)
1. Make a preliminary edit (selections) of what you have shot so far. Put it in a folder and bring to class.
2. Look over your preliminary edit and determine what you have left to shoot.
3. Shoot last set of images. This may or may not be 100 images. If you are missing images from previous week, then definitely shoot at least 100!!
4.Batch convert to jpegs (watch video tutorial here), 8-10 compression, 72dpi, 1200pix on the long side.
5. Bring in ALL your images on a drive as you will be working on your final projects during class next week!!!
Week 9, March 5, 2013 (due Week 10)
1. Using the examples of artist statements pdf we went over in class as a reference guide and/or using the questions at the end of the pdf to help generate ideas, write the first draft of your artist statement and bring to class.
